A group of amateur researchers presented an impressive photograph of the Big Magellanic Cloud dwarf galaxy, a satellite of the Milky Way. The astronomers did a gigantic job, and the resulting frame of the section of the universe was a record of its kind.
Particular attention should be paid to the total duration of exposure during data acquisition, which was an incredible 1060 hours. Previously, none of the amateur scientists could achieve this result.
204 million pixels – this is the total image resolution, when scaling which you can see interesting objects of different colors – space structures. It looks very impressive.
The Large Magellanic Cloud is 163 thousand light-years distant from us. It contains approximately 30 billion stars, which is 13 times less than in the Milky Way. It is there that the famous star WOH G64, considered one of the largest, is located. The radius of this star is 1540 solar radii.
